1. Kite of the Month - Tramp

Power kiting has always received a lot of interest. This is the most extreme aspect of kiting and includes kitesurfing, kite landbaording, buggying, sand skiing and kite jumping. Many of the e-mails I receive have to do with power kiting, the most common question is " I really want to get into power kiting but I don’t know where to start". My usual answer is the Tramp. Start off with something that you can manage but will still give you stacks of power in strong winds with great speed and maneuverability. Flying a well designed, high performance power kite is an incredible experience, and the rush is awesome.

To promote the great sport of power kiting I have slashed the price of the Tramp, for the month of July, from R1250 down to a crazy R999.This is an incredible deal. You will not find a better power kite of this size that will give you this much fun, anywhere at a lower price, so don’t miss out.

2. Events Calendar

Kite Making Workshop - part of the Midlands Meander/Country Life Creative Festival from the 12-18th July. We still have some space free for the morning kite workshop Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th July. 9am - 1pm. To book phone 031-765 1279. Price R63 pp including tea and all materials.

Let us know if you have an upcoming event and we will post it on the Events Calendar. We also welcome any comments; our vision is to create a site that will assist kite enthusiasts with diverse interests such as power kiting, kite aerial photography, stunt kite flying, etc. Let me know what you are up to or would like to know about. We will either write an article in Kiting News or add a section to the web site. Send your suggestions or articles to news@hiflykites.co.za.

3. Hot Tip

When launching a power kite in strong wind it is safer to launch the kite on the edge of the wind window. This will reduce the pull and prevent you being dragged out of control.

4. Did you know?

A giraffe can clean its ears with its 21-inch tongue! Now that's really useful, saves on earbuds... Talking about saving, have you noticed the "save" icon on Microsoft Word shows a floppy disk, with the shutter on backwards.

Until next time...

May the wind always be at your back.
