A young local businessman, David Sampson, has seen his hobby, kite-making, rapidly become a successful business. Initially he started making just one model and sold these at flea markets - he now manufacturers 18 different models, not only single line kites but also stunt or sport kites, which is where the bulk of the market is. The advanced stunt models can travel up to 180km/h. |

| Go Fly A Kite (22 July 1992 - The Howick Phoenix) |
 |
| |
David Sampson has already established himself making "Hi Fly Kites" in a modern factory in Power Street Howick. We were amazed at the progress already made by David in the production of many different models of kites all of which are designed to cater for a growing world wide recreational activity. Kite flying is in the blood of all males and the trend towards this popular sport will hopefully see David well on the road to a profitable
future. |
