Have you ever wondered how kites are made? We are going to take you step by step through this fascinating process from the selection of fabrics to the completed kite packed and ready for shipping. We have chosen our most popular kite, the Meteor, for the purpose of this exercise.
The type of fabric used in a kite is critical to its performance. We use three different types of ripstop nylon from very soft parachute fabrics to the more heavily polyurethane/silicon coated paraglider fabrics. The particular fabric used in the Meteor is a paraglider fabric that has been laminated on both sides (kites made with this quality fabric can't be printed but it does add enormously to the durability and is much easier to clean).
